Everyone makes mistakes.

Everyone.

After the mistake is made we have three choices:

We can pretend you didn’t make the mistake which is just plain wrong.

We can try and hide the mistake, but this requires effort on our part.

You have to lie, remember the lie, and tell other supporting lies.

Sometimes, depending on the mistake, our guilty conscience can drive us crazy, and we can spend many sleepless nights worrying about getting caught.

The other option is to admit the mistake and use our time and effort to correct the mistake as much as possible.

And although I’ve lied in the past to cover up some stupid stuff I’ve done — number three is the right thing to do.

Here’s a quick story where I tried to do number three.

I walked into a black-owned resale store off the East-West Connector in Cobb Count and on the shelf was the coolest hat ever.

If you know me, then you know how cool I THINK I am, and how much I love hats, so of course, I had to try on the coolest hat to see how it looked.

Cool people do cool things.

I decided to buy them so I held on to it as I looked around the store.
