If There is One Thing You Should Have Learned from Kobe Bryant’s Life, It’s This: Shoot. Your. MF’n. Shot.
Kobe Bryant is the NBA all-time leader in only one category: missed shots.
You heard me correctly, he missed more shots than any other player in the history of the NBA.
But before we go forward, I want to share a saying that runs rampant amongst basketball players, especially guards: “Shooters shoot.”
It means, if you want to win, you keep shooting even if you miss a lot of your shots attempts, and eventually you will start scoring again.
Kobe was interviewed after the game where he broke the record for missing the most shots in NBA history and he shrugged, “I don’t follow that stuff man. I’m a shooting guard, my job is to score.”
And with that, he kept shooting.
The only way you get what you really want out of life is to shoot your shot.
Like everyone, after hearing of Kobe’s untimely death, I had a choked-up moment where I sat there with tears in my eyes thinking to myself… this guy gave EVERYTHING to doing what he loved.
Everything.
He made a decision and it became the driver for how he lived the rest of his life.
